A sales manager has responsibility for the sales in an organisation (or part of it). Sales involves converting obtaining revenue from customers for existing products. Whereas marketing has a future orientation, identifying how products can be developed or marketed to meet future needs, sales uses the positioning of current products to directly generate revenue. This career tends to have salaries in the range £30-80k (based on research in the UK). Typically, therefore, it has a very high earnings potential.
