This page lists possible INFJ careers: professional careers that may be most suited to those with INFJ preferences.
There are two lists, both of which are based on our own research that identifies careers where INFJ's preferred team roles (or "dominant and auxiliary functions" in Jung/Myers Briggs terminology) are used extensively.
For more information about the lists, see our careers list information page.
The mandala (below right) represents where the preferences of INFJ lie, based on the MTR-i team roles. For a full explanation, see our mandala page.
List No 1
The careers that, in our research, made most use of INFJ's preferred function include:
List No 2
| Careers chosen by those preferring the INFJ's dominant function (Ni) (calculated using "selection ratio") | Careers chosen by those preferring the INFJ's auxiliary function (Fe) (calculated using "selection ratio") |
|
Project manager Nurse Technical specialist Lawyer/attorney Designer Engineer Professor/academic/lecturer Artist/actor Manager Writer/editor Forces Trainer Clergy/church worker Counsellor |
Counsellor Trainer Assistant Secretary Senior Manager Researcher Accountant/auditor/banker/economist Designer Homemaker Entrepreneur/self-employed Writer/editor Psychologist Careers/occupational advice/therapy Human Resources |
The careers highlighted in bold, above, appear in both lists. It is possible, therefore, that those careers have a closer fit to those with INFJ preferences (matching both dominant and auxiliary functions, and not just one).
The jobs/occupations using both dominant and auxiliary functions are:
- Designer
- Writer/editor
- Trainer
- Counsellor
