MMDI™-jd: Job Demand Questionnaire

This questionnaire helps you identify the parts of your personality that are stretched in your current job. You can use the results of this questionnaire, in combination with the MMDI-re, to identify potential sources of personal dissatisfaction with your current role.

If you have not completed a free personality test before, we recommend that you read our free personality tests guidelines first. This questionnaire is for your personal use only, and commercial use is prohibited.

Important Background Information

In order to be successful, different behaviours are required in different jobs. For example, an operator in a nuclear power station is legally obliged to adhere to pre-defined procedures; but someone who works in PR or marketing has to innovate.

The behaviours that you need to use, to be successful, depend to some extent on your job and not on what your personality preferences are. If you enjoy innovating, you may find it frustrating to work as an operator in a nuclear power station. You would have to keep within the confines of many legal rules and regulations. If you enjoy making sure that a job is done in a well-defined, correct and professional manner, you may find it frustrating working in a marketing agency. In marketing environments there is often a lot of ambiguity and change, and there can be a need to innovate constantly.

In these examples, the frustration is due to a tension, or tug-o-war, between your personality preferences and the demands of your job.

This questionnaire is about the demands of your job only. When completing it you should think about what would make you successful.

There are only 28 questions (5 blocks of 4 questions) so take your time to answer.

Choose between each pair of statements by moving the sliders to show which behaviour will make you more successful in your job (if there are no sliders, access this page through a javascript-enabled browser). If you think both are equally important to your success, or neither are important, then put the slider near the middle. If you think one side will make you more successful than the other, move the slider to that side.
