Simulation of Thinking

Building lines between the nodes

In this model (which includes a small amount of intuition, to create new nodes for Thinking to work with), you can see that the schema grows much more slowly, but connections are being built between the nodes, and those connections become very black.

This represents thinking as establishing a structure and organisation into the schema - the structure is brought about by the connecting lines. It is not so interested as intuition in creating something new (with an implied or unconscious relationship) - it wants to build a strong schema with sure (conscious) connections.

"Thinking is the psychological function which, following its own laws, brings the contents of ideation into conceptual connection with each other" (C G Jung, Psychological Types, p481)
